In December 1981, the Four Eminences of the Karma Kagyu school founded an association of international monks and nuns called the International Kagyu Sangha Association. The intention was to “establish good communication between Sangha members throughout the world by publishing in a newsletter,” establishing a fund to support Sangha members, and establishing annual courses. A copy of the letter, signed by H.E. Shamar Rinpoche, H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche, H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, and H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpohce is below:

From 1982 to 1998 the International Kagyu Sangha Association published The Profound Path of Peace, a journal. Primarily, monastics at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia were the ones who collected the articles, published and mailed out the newsletter annually.

The cover art was painted for the newsletter by H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche. Each newsletter contains a combination of writings on monastic life, interviews with eminent teachers, news for the sangha, and more.

Recently, at our request, Lodro Sangpo at KCCL in Halifax, NS, tirelessly scanned all the archives of the PPP so we can make them available online.

You may now access the full archive here.

As we are able, we may post specific interviews and articles from the newsletters. Many thanks to Lodro Sangpo and may they be of benefit!
